What a share really costs.
A classic car costs the same to insure, store and service whether one person drives it or four. Sharing it divides the bill. Move the sliders to see what each co-owner pays into the running-costs fund.
Sports and GT: Triumph TR6, Mercedes SL, Alfa Spider, Mustang, Citroën DS, Jaguar Mk2
€1,389 a year into the running-costs fund, plus your own fuel. A 1/4 share would sell for about €10,000 and carry 30 booking points a year.

Paid by the fund
Everything above. Each co-owner pays their share by standing order into a separate account the lead owner runs. Repairs up to €750 come straight out of it. Bigger jobs go to a vote, and if the fund runs short, co-owners top it up by share.
Paid by whoever is driving
Fuel, tolls, parking and fines during your booking, and any damage you cause, including the insurance excess. Return the car with at least the fuel you got it with. The full detail is in the rules.
How much is motor tax on a classic car in Ireland?
Cars 30 years or older can be taxed at the flat vintage rate of €56 a year, whatever the engine size. Check the current rate on motortax.ie before you tax the car.
Does a classic car need an NCT?
Under the Road Safety Authority's rules, a car 30 to 39 years old in private use is tested every two years, and a car 40 or more years old in private use doesn't need a test at all. It still has to be roadworthy. Commercial use, such as wedding hire, means an annual test at any age.
How much is classic car insurance?
For a modest car with an experienced driver, a secure garage and limited mileage, often a few hundred euro a year. Valuable cars and extra named drivers cost more. Our model allows more than that because a shared car has several named drivers on one policy.
What does the running-costs fund not cover?
Fuel, tolls, parking, fines, and damage you cause during your own booking, including the insurance excess. Those are paid by whoever has the car.
